On January 25, 2007 AHCCCS was awarded a Medicaid Transformation Grant to develop and implement an electronic web based health information exchange (HIE) to give all Medicaid providers instant access to patients' health information at the point of care. Grant funds are being used to support the planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and evaluation of Arizona's first functional Health Information Exchange (HIE), the Arizona Medical Information Exchange (AMIE).
