As part of Arizona's Medicaid Reform Plan, AHCCCS is reviewing opportunities to
further integrate care for the following populations:
Children with special health care needs;
Individuals with Serious Mental Illness;
Members Enrolled in Both Medicare and Medicaid (Duals)
AHCCCS is working with various stakeholders, including families who receive services
from the Children’s Rehabilitative Services (CRS) program, to create a specialty
health plan that would manage care for medical and CRS conditions. Click on the

On December 9, 2013, The Arizona Department of Health Services, in coordination with AHCCCS, released
a Request for Information (RFI) to seek input for an integrated health care service delivery system to
provide physical and behavioral health care services to maximize care coordination statewide. Responses

On March 25, 2013, The Arizona Department of Health awarded the contract to manage the Maricopa
County Integrated Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) to Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care.

AHCCCS is working with the Arizona Department of Health Services/ Division of Behavioral
Health to explore the creation of a specialty Regional Behavioral Health Authority
(RBHA) model with expanded responsibility for Medicaid members determined to have
a Serious Mental Illness (SMI). The "Specialty RBHA with SMI Health Homes" model
would be fully responsible for the delivery and payment of providing coordinated
and integrated behavioral and physical health care through the use of SMI health

AHCCCS is working to increase alignment and improve service delivery for people
covered by both Medicare and Medicaid. These individuals, commonly referred to as
“duals,” are currently navigating multiple systems to receive care. More information
