Opioid State Targeted Response (STR)

Background

The overarching goal of the Arizona Opioid State Targeted Response grant is to increase access to Medication Assisted Treatment, care coordination for high risk individuals, recovery support services and prevention activities to reduce the prevalence of Opioid Use Disorders and opioid-related overdose deaths. The project approach includes developing and supporting state, regional, and local level collaborations, building capacity and infrastructure and service enhancements in high need areas in Arizona.

On May 1, 2017, Arizona received an award notice for $24,343,406 over the course of two years from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) to implement prevention and treatment activities for this targeted effort. AHCCCS, as the Single State Agency for Substance Abuse Treatment, will administer the grant and work with other state agencies, Regional Behavioral Health Authorities (RBHAs), and contractors to implement the activities.
