State Opioid Response III (SOR III)

Background

The overarching goal of the State Opioid Response III grant is to increase access to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) treatment, coordinated and integrated care, recovery support services, and prevention activities to reduce the prevalence of OUDs, stimulant use disorders, and opioid-related overdose deaths. The project approach includes developing and supporting state, regional, and local level collaborations and service enhancements to develop and implement best practices to comprehensively address the full continuum of care related to stimulant and opioid misuse, abuse and dependency.

In September 2022, Arizona received an award notice of $63,212,924, allocated over two years, from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) to implement prevention, recovery support, and treatment activities for this effort. AHCCCS, as the Single State Agency for Substance Abuse Treatment, will administer the grant and work with other state agencies, Regional Behavioral Health Agreements (RBHAs), and contractors to implement the activities.
