Change in Ownership Activities

 

November 6, 2023 - AHCCCS is seeking public comment regarding the proposed merger and transition of members from Care1st Health Plan of Arizona (Care1st) to Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan (AzCH-CCP). Both health plans Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan and Care1st Health Plan of Arizona are currently owned by Centene Corporation.

AzCH-CCP Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan currently serves approximately 372,445 acute members and individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) throughout Maricopa, Gila, Cochise, Pinal, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Pima, Santa Cruz, and Yuma counties, while Care1st Health Plan of Arizona currently serves approximately 80,626 acute members and individuals with SMI throughout Apache, Coconino, Mohave, Navajo and Yavapai counties as well as the entire northern geographic area of the state. Both health plans are currently AHCCCS Complete Care Contractors with a Regional Behavioral Health Agreement (ACC-RBHA).

July 20, 2020 - AHCCCS is seeking public comment on the proposed sale of Magellan Complete Care of Arizona, Inc. (MCC of Arizona) to Molina Healthcare, Inc. (Molina) and the proposed transition plan. Magellan Complete Care of Arizona, Inc. currently serves 29,388 members throughout Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties as an AHCCCS Complete Care Plan (ACC Plan).

November 22, 2019 – AHCCCS is seeking public comment on the proposed sale of Steward Health Choice Arizona, Inc. (SHCA) to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Inc. (BCBSAZ) and the proposed transition plan. Steward Health Choice Arizona currently serves approximately 203,700 members throughout Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties as an AHCCCS Complete Care Plan (ACC Plan), and the entire northern geographic area of the state as both an ACC Plan and a Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA).

August 21, 2019 – AHCCCS is seeking public comment regarding the proposed merger agreement between Centene Corporation (“Centene”) and WellCare Health Plans (WellCare), which will result in Centene acquiring control of WellCare. In addition, AHCCCS is seeking public comment on the proposed transition plan associated with this proposed merger. Two AHCCCS contracted health plans, Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan and Care1st Health Plan of Arizona, are affected by this proposed merger.

Arizona Complete Health-Complete Care Plan is owned by Centene Corporation, and currently serves approximately 209,600 members throughout Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties as well as the entire southern geographic area including Pima County. Care1st Health Plan of Arizona is a wholly owned subsidiary of WellCare and currently serves approximately 173,400 members throughout Maricopa, Pinal and Gila counties as well as the entire northern geographic area of the state.
