Office of the Inspector General
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is responsible for the integrity of the $9 billion Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Arizona's Medicaid program. The OIG is also responsible for handling reports of fraud and abuse of the AHCCCS program.
The mission of the AHCCCS Office of Inspector General is to uphold the integrity of the Medicaid program by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and law enforcement entities to prevent, detect, investigate, and recover improper payments and impose penalties, due to fraud, waste, and abuse.2017 Program Integrity Plan | Rich Text Version

Definition of FraudFraud is defined by Federal law (42 CFR 455.2) as "an intentional deception or misrepresentation made by a person with the knowledge that the deception could result in some unauthorized benefit to himself or some other person. It includes any act that constitutes fraud under applicable Federal or State law."
