State Opioid Response (SOR)

Background

The overarching goal of the Arizona Opioid State Targeted Response project is to increase access to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) treatment, coordinated and integrated care, recovery support services and prevention activities to reduce the prevalence of OUDs and opioid-related overdose deaths. The project approach includes developing and supporting state, regional, and local level collaborations and service enhancements to develop and implement best practices to comprehensively address the full continuum of care related to opioid misuse, abuse and dependency.

On September 19, 2018 Arizona received an award notice for $40,538,606 over the course of two years from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) to implement prevention, recovery support and treatment activities for this effort. AHCCCS, as the Single State Agency for Substance Abuse Treatment, will administer the grant and work with other state agencies, Regional Behavioral Health Authorities (RBHAs), and contractors to implement the activities.
