Messaging Toolkit Available to Increase Awareness of Medicaid Renewals

The regular member renewal processes begins April 1, 2023

AHCCCS has posted a messaging toolkit and supporting materials for health plans, providers, and community organizations to use to amplify awareness about the return to regular Medicaid renewal processes which begin April 1, 2023.

Visit the www.azahcccs.gov/Renewals web page for frequently asked questions from members about the renewal process, and use the End of Continuous Enrollment Toolkit materials to educate communities about the upcoming renewal processes.

Eligibility for all Medicaid and KidsCare members will be determined over the course of 12 months. To ensure that members do not experience any gap in health care coverage, AHCCCS asks all members to:

  1. Make sure their mailing address, phone number, and email address on file is correct in Health-e-Arizona Plus. Login to www.healthearizonaplus.gov or call Health-e-Arizona Plus at 1-855-HEA-PLUS (1-855-432-7587), Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  2. Sign up for text or email alerts from AHCCCS in www.healthearizonaplus.gov. See this flier to learn how.
  3. Check their mailbox for a letter about renewing AHCCCS coverage.
  4. Respond to any requests from AHCCCS for more information so the agency can accurately determine eligibility.

While the Consolidated Appropriations Act disconnected the continuous coverage requirement from the federal public health emergency (PHE), Medicaid emergency authorities are still tied to the PHE. AHCCCS has posted a list of all the authorities requested, their implementation status, and their expiration relative the PHE end date. The Biden administration released a statement of their intention to let the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) expire on May 11, 2023.
