Family Support Services
Did you know that family members of AHCCCS members can receive a supportive behavioral health service known as Parent/Family Support Services? Parent/Family Support is a covered Medicaid (AHCCCS) service available to primary care-givers of Medicaid-eligible children and natural supports of Medicaid-eligible Adults. These supportive services may involve, but are not limited to:

AHCCCS collaborates with Providers and community members to ensure peer support and family support services are available to all persons receiving services and their families.
Family Support Services are offered by agencies throughout the state of Arizona.
Resources by County
AHCCCS members can contact their AHCCCS health plan or Office of Individual and Family Affairs (OIFA). OIFA partners with members and their supporters to ensure that they are connected to provider supportive services. Family and friends of an AHCCCS member can request support services on behalf of a member as long as the member has given permission. The member and family member can choose which agency you would like to receive this service.
Many agencies offer family support services. Some agencies use credentialed family members to provide this service. Credentialed family support means the person who is working with you has experience as a primary support for either a child or adult with emotional, behavioral health or substance use needs and has completed a formal training program to provide this service.
In Arizona we have Family Run Organizations operating that employ those who share the “lived experience” of the communities they serve. They specialize in providing family support services, and can provide one-on-one support to you.

Ask your family member’s Case Manager or Clinical Team to add “Family Support Services” provided by the family-run organization of your choice to your child’s service plan. You have the right to receive services from the provider of YOUR choice.
AHCCCS OIFA approves all credentialed training programs to ensure standards across the state. Please refer to AMPM Policy 964 for more information.
